About Minnehaha/Lincoln County Dept. of Human Services - Sioux Falls

Provides emergency assistance with rent and deposits, utility bills, heat assistance, food and non-food items, burial, transportation for death or verifiable job (out-of-town only), dental care, and medical care (including hospitalization and primary care) and medications. Also provides a representative payee program that manages money for people unable to handle their own funds. Other service include: financial assistance for voluntary admissions to Human Service Center in Yankton (alcohol & mental illness), homeless outreach & prevention services. Emergency shelter is available for homeless individuals or families who have used up their time or unable to stay at the St. Francis House, Union Gospel Mission or Salvation Army. Bus passes are also available. The agency can also help with the cost of a driver's license or identification card. Intake procedures: Walk-ins are handled on a first-come, first-servebasis at 8:00am and 1:00pm.Residents of Minnehaha and Lincoln county may apply at either the Sioux Falls office or Canton office.Canton office:723 E. 5th StreetCanton, SD (605) 941-5833
