South Shore Housing is committed to enhancing the quality of life for low and moderate income people by providing decent, safe, and affordable housing; helping families move forward toward economic and social independence; assisting individuals reconnect with their community. The Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program (MRVP) is a rental assistance program funded through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The program consists of two components: mobile vouchers and project-based vouchers. A mobile voucher is tenant-based and can be used anywhere in Massachusetts. Project based vouchers are vouchers that are attached to specific units and must be used for that unit. Both regional nonprofits and local housing authorities administer this program. To be eligible for the MRVP, households can earn no more than 200% of the federal poverty level ($35,300 for a household of 4 persons as of April 2001). Income limits are higher or lower, depending on the size of the household. Other preferences and eligibility guidelines may apply. Each housing agency maintains its own waiting list for the program threfore, interested parties should apply to those agencies where they wish to live.
