The HUD Section 8 Program provides rental assistance and utility subsidies to households that meet income requirements in order to lease privately owned dwellings that meet the minimum housing standards. Eligibility is based on income, family composition and specific program requirements. Participants are re-certified annually for continued eligibility. Participants are responsible for seeking and selecting housing unit of choice. Through this program eligible families and individuals are provided the opportunity to live in affordable, safe, decent and sanitary housing. Regional offices in Florida are located in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and Miami.
