About The Consortium For Services To Homeless Families

The Consortium for Services to Homeless Families (ConServe) is a nonprofit organization that exists to assist low-income and homeless families achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency through an array of services that are based on a holistic approach and are tailored to meet the needs of families, individuals, and communities. Services include housing assistance, support services, referral services, employment training and education, employment counseling, and emergency assistance. ConServe was created in 1986, as a consortium of service providers, to design alternatives to the existing delivery system for low-income and homeless families. Since that time, ConServe has evolved into a direct service organization that, through an innovative rental assistance program combined with necessary and complimentary support services, places families in situations that give them tools to obtain and maintain independent living. These services have enabled over 1,000 families to move from crisis situations to self-sufficient lifestyles in private rental housing. ConServe remains in existence to serve, in addition to the 7,500 homeless families, the 40,000 families that live in doubled-up or tripled-up situations and the 24,000 families that spend more than 50% of their income on rent.
